چکیده

The low-lying states in 106Zr and 108Zr have been investigated by means of β-γ and isomer spectroscopy at the RI beam factory, respectively. A new isomer with a half-life of 620±150 ns has been identified in 108Zr. For the sequence of even-even Zr isotopes, the excitation energies of the first 2+ states reach a minimum at N = 64 and gradually increase as the neutron number increases up to N = 68, suggesting a deformed sub-shell closure at N = 64. The deformed ground state of 108Zr indicates that a spherical sub-shell gap predicted at N = 70 is not large enough to change the ground state of 108Zr to the spherical shape. The possibility of a tetrahedral shape isomer in 108Zr is also discussed. PACS numbers: 23.20.Lv, 23.35.+g, 27.60.+j

Shape evolution and Gamow-Teller β-decay of neutron-rich A∼100 nuclei within beyond-mean-field approach

Our recent investigations represent an attempt to the self-consistent description of exotic phenomena in neutron–rich A∼100 nuclei [1, 2] within the complex Excited Vampir variational model with symmetry projection before variation using a realistic effective interaction in a large model space. The triple shape coexistence and the shape evolution in the N=58 Sr and Zr isotopes, the shape evolut...

Pygmy Dipol Resonances as a Manifestation of the Structure of the Neutron-Rich Nuclei

Dipole excitations in neutron-rich nuclei below the neutron threshold are investigated. The method is based on Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) and Quasiparticle-Phonon Model (QPM) theory. Of our special interest are the properties of the low-lying 1 Pygmy Resonance and the two-phonon quadrupole-octupole 1 states in Sn-isotopes including exploratory investigations for the experimentally unknown ma...

Fragmentation of very neutron - rich projectiles around 132 Sn

We propose an experiment to isotopically identify and determine the production cross sections of residual nuclei in the fragmentation of very neutron-rich nuclei around Sn produced in the fission of relativistic U primary projectiles. These measurements will provide valuable information about a possible two-step reaction scheme (fission-fragmentation) to optimise the production of extremely neu...

Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov and RPA description of exotic nuclear structure

A review of recent applications of the relativistic mean-field theory to the structure of exotic nuclei is presented. Models based on the relativistic mean-field approximation provide a microscopically consistent description of the nuclear many-body problem, not only in nuclei along the valley of β-stability, but also in exotic nuclei with extreme isospin values and close to the particle drip l...

Shape evolution in the neutron-rich tungsten region

Recent experimental data on the low-lying states in 190W show a change in the E(41 )/E(2 + 1 ) behavior compared to less neutron-rich neigbors. Self-consistent axially-deformed Hartree-Fock calculations, using a separable monopole interaction, of nuclei in the vicinity of 190W are performed to systematically examine the evolution of ground state quadrupole deformations. It is found that the neu...

Size Evolution Study of the Electronic and Magnetic Properties of MgO Nanoclusters

Magnesium oxide nanoclusters have attracted much attention due to their potential applications to catalysis and novel optoelectronic materials. In the present study, we have studied the electronic and magnetic properties of the stoichiometric magnesium oxide nanoclusters (MgO)n  for n = 2-20. Although the binding energy increases with the size of the cluster, it  re...
